I had a chance today to test the Point Grey Research Grasshopper Express camera with a 6 megapixel ICX694 sensor. It is quite a camera. 11 frames per second in 8 bit mode, handled without missing a beat in Astro IIDC 4.08 running on my four year old MacBook Pro. I was about to put stuff away and head to work when a huge prominence unfurled from the solar disk:

There is a link to a full frame shot below these images. I believe this sensor will capture the full solar disk at a focal length close to 1 meter... though I haven't measure it exactly. I used a 2x barlow with my 450mm FL refractor. 


I will try to do some justice to the captured data when I return from a trip this weekend.
