Hopefully in a few minutes I'll know better… but I expect it will keep up. I went with the fastest 15" MBP I could get (without doing a custom build from China with SSD drive). There is a nice portable 1TB Seagate drive that uses a separate sled to connect via thunderbolt. Data transfer is quite speedy and it seems that it would be possible to record directly to it. Of course, everything seems speedy when comparing to a five year old machine!

best,

Alan

Alan,

This is very good to hear. Have you had a chance to evaluate the capture performance yet? Is the laptop disk able to keep up with the camera's data rate?

Thanks,

George

I just brought home a new MacBook Pro… I'd been losing a lot of dropped frames on the newer Point Grey cameras and five year old laptop. Astro IIDC absolutely screams on the new I7 quad core processor stacking movies. I hadn't anticipated such a dramatic speed increase. I haven't had a moment to capture new movies yet, but can hardly wait.

Thanks for this, Milton!

cheers,

Alan
