Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] Re: Mosaics?

Hi Vince;

In most cases, I have found that doing the image processing (sharpening, colour balance etc.) first and then combine / mosaic them in another package like PhotoShop.

Also make sure the processing you apply is the same for all images. In most cases, I process a couple of frames to get the best settings and then use the "Batch Process Images..." to treat them all the same.

Lastly,  when stacking use pretty much the same number of frames for each stack. If you use say 30 frames in one stack and 70 in the other stack, then the noise / grain in the 30 frame stack may show up a lot more than the 70 frame stack too - depending on how much sharpening you apply.

Thanks Milton.

Another question for those of you that do lunar and solar mosaics: do you do your sharpening on each individual panel (with the same settings) then make the mosaic, or do you make the mosaic first, then bring the whole thing back into Astro IIDC for sharpening?

Thanks, Vince

Thanks in advance, Vince
