the coupon was only intended for visitors at the event.  It would be a violation of the coupon terms to do anything you are asking.

They are worth every penny of the full price and I would encourage you to buy one so we can keep PGR interested in expanded the market of their awesome cameras more for astronomers.

You might do well to try Astromart for that. Recall that if a person has used their magic code to buy anything, that code is no longer usable. You would have to hope for someone who either picked up the coupon with no intention to use it, or is saving up her/his pennies to use it later in the summer.

No limit on the number of cameras, but a limit of three of any one model, and all needed to be purchased in a single transaction by the end of August, 2012. This is the most generous discount offer I have ever seen. I now have a Grasshopper 6MP mono myself.

Not saying you couldn't take solar system pics with it, but it's not optimized for that. 5 second downloads are not an issue at all for deep-sky photography, but video is best for solar system work. My SBIG STL-11000M requires nearly 30 seconds to download an 11MP full-frame image via USB 1.

I was poking around the net yesterday to see who else is using these new exview HAD chips, and found that Starlight Xpress is (not surprisingly, since they've favored Sony chips since their inception). What is surprising is that their price for their cooled version with the 6mp chip is $1K less than Pt Grey's uncooled version. Of course, the Grasshopper has a much higher frame rate (the SX takes 5 seconds to download a full frame). But if cooled Deep sky is the objective, the slow downloads might not be an issue.

I had enough time to get everything unpacked and set up for a test run and shot two streams of video to make sure the computer and cameras were all happy and talking to each other. I forgot about these files in the excitement of June 5th. Looking back through the files while archiving the 200 gigabytes of data from my trip, the conditions on June 4th were much better than the following day… in fact, it is some of the best solar seeing I've experienced in some time. Apologies in advance for the large images, but I couldn't bear to reduce them:
