Hey guys!,
I now it's not SDO but I think that this little girl at my outreach event at
Dragon*Con this weekend was the only person on Earth to have caught the
entire length of the ejected filament on Friday. I saw it going off so I
sat her down at the ASTRO IIDC equipped computers and helped her film the
whole thing… It was much brighter in CaK (393nm) than H-Alpha (656nm). I
also believe she is the only amateur to have ever captured a filament in
CaK, IT GOT REALLY BRIGHT in CaK just before it lifted off. Not bad for a
10 year old on her first try, eh? Now, if this doesn't show the effect
ASTRO IIDC has had on solar outreach in a positive light, I don't know what
does…J You can see her in the images below using the false color preview
that Milton put in the program just for outreach work. Milton, thank you so
much for helping me to expose over a quarter million people directly to the
Sun in all its glory through your software. Im on to the next ¼ million
now…J
Thought you might like to see the images..
Here is a link to her raw data videos of the entore event. You can actually
see it moving off the edge of the Sun in 2 wavelengths…
