Subject: Mountain Lion Compatibility

Hi Folks;

I got "Mountain Lion" (10.8.1) installed yesterday and have been running tests today with stacking, image processing and other features. So far nothing bad to report. I hope to run camera and mount tests tonight.

The only issue I have run into is if you download Astro IIDC from the internet and then the first time you launch it you get a warning window with the phrase: "Astro IIDC.app" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." and then you can't proceed any further.

Unfortunately Apple doesn't bother telling you where to go to change the settings to allow apps to run. So what you need to do is click on "System Preferences" on the task bar (silver gear icon), then click on the "Security & Privacy" icon and in the "Security & Privacy" window, click on the "General" tab. At the bottom of the window is the heading "Allow application downloaded from:" and you need to select "Anywhere" radio button.

If you install "Mountain Lion" over top of "Lion" and Astro IIDC is already installed, then the above does not happen at all.

One issue I am finding in "Mountain Lion" is preferences for Apple apps, utilities and control panels don't stick properly. Many times I change a setting, quit the app, then relaunch the app  and then settings I changed will not be as  I left it. It seems to be a crap shoot if it sticks or not. And sometimes it does stick, but if I re-start the Mac then next time it launches it's again not the way I left it. Really inconsistent.

I have not seen that in Astro IIDC at all though - so it isn't affected by it.

HTH..
