Subject: Solar Images on Oct 8, 2012

Hi All,

Was able to get a few shots of the Sun today. It was a windy but a clear day in Chicago.

The first link is to an image showing a giant ball of fire sticking off of the sun. The second link is a plane I caught flying between me and the sun. The movie is interesting.

The images were taken with a Coronado 90mm Solarmax II filter mounted on an Astro-Physics 130 Starfire GT located at the Red Observatory. The mount was an Astro-Physics 1200. The camera was an Imaging Source DMK 41BF02 firewire camera controlled with AstroIIDC. The image was aligned and summed from the raw movie data in ASTROIIDC and then final processing completed using the 64 bit version of iCCD.

Thanks for looking,

Jeff
