Subject: Re: New mac coming, what to do?

I don't know about possible sale of Astro IIDC to another company.  I thought Milton said he wouldn't do that (but apologies if I'm wrong).

I did notice that you can still buy a single license, or a multi-computer license for a fraction of the $500 for the Golden Key.  I will say that this software has been around and updated frequently enough that you'd likely be getting a bargain even if your current mac only lasts a few years from now.

Again, my 2 cents.  But that's what I would do if I were just starting with Mac-based AP (both DSO and planetary) with firewire (and some USB) cameras.

I understand the situation better now after catching up on all the reading, AstroIIDC is to be kept for the possibility of selling the software to another company at some future point.

So giving the software away at this point or giving out future keys would reduce the potential value of the Software to a buyer of the IP.

That makes sense, and I can see why giving out new keys going forwards could be a problem.

I hope some company sees it as a value proposition and buys the program, I'm sorry to have missed the boat :)

Cheers, and best wishes for your future ventures.

Apparently there isn't.

I have an old G5, I'm considering buying a license for that I guess.

What will those of you who have already bought the software do if your computer dies? Or are have you bought golden keys already?

I just wanted to make sure I had it right, I can't buy a key now to use on a future computer, except the golden key?

Not a complaint, just trying to work out what my options are.

Cheers

I was about to buy Astro IIDC, but my mac has died, a new one is on its way, but will be another week. Is there any way I can get a key, other than the aptly named golden one?

Cheers
