Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] PGR Cameras for use wuth Astro IIDC

Correction to my previous post.  Milton is of course right, the Chameleon USB camera worked fine, it was the USB3 cameras from PGR that do not register in the ASTRO IIDC software.  I am using Mavericks on my 5 Macs for outreach and I have no trouble with the Scorpions and Grasshoppers that I use.  I do get a pretty frequent error message on random .mov files when trying to stack them and havent found out why yet, but all in all it works very well, perfectly for broadcasting false color images which is why I use it.

I just wish the software were still available for others.  I sure am glad I bought the golden key.  I cant tell you the number of people who have begged me for it.  It will never leave my possession though.  Mac users are at a severe handicap in astrophotography since the loss of this incredible software package and there is nothing out there to replace it.

HI Milton,

Would any of the PGR Flea USB cameras work or do they need to be firewire?

Thanks

Just to further that, the mono and color USB 2 Chameleon cameras
worked fine in my testing. I still have a Chameleon Color model here
and use it now and then with no issues.

The early Chameleon (and also some FireFly MV) models likely had a
firmware bug - which can be fixed by updating the camera firmware to
the latest 1.4.3 or higher version.
