Donn;

People seem to think that just because I ceased development, it has no value and therefore I should just make it available for free. Not going to happen. The free and open source argument has already been hashed out on this list, if you want to read through it.

I am still looking for a buyer of the source code, which includes the Driver Framework (licensing this to various companies actually made more money than Astro IIDC ever did), Bayer code and extensively optimized code. A few parties have expressed interest in the past, but all low ball offers. I have sunk at least $500,000 of development time into it (not even accounting for the countless night time hours I spent testing the code under horrible observing conditions, like -35°C with windchill into the -50°C range) it over 10 years and I want some (not all) return on my investment.

Lastly, most of the companies that I had interviews with were adamant that I was free and clear of external projects. The first question from any recruiters were if I had ongoing projects, including open source, still in effect. They want employees focussed on their projects and I would not have gotten any interviews if I had any externals.

Hi Stephen:

Thanks for the reply. Is the author on this board or reachable still? It seems to just pull the plug on something like that is akin to taking your wealth to the grave instead of passing it on ;-)

BTW - kudos for all the fine solar outreach stuff you do - its amazing!

Peace and blessings,
