Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] Strange Problem

Hi Kevin;

Launch the Console.app (in Applications Folder inside Utilties) and see if Astro IIDC or OS X are putting up any messages in the Log window.

If a FireWire device starts going bad, it may start showing a lot of incomplete transactions - which show up on an OSX Driver Level as error messages.

And check if the Camera itself is really warm. I had an old Camera go bad, and it was running warm enough to used as a hot plate.

HTH..

In my testing this afternoon using a different Mac mini with OS 10.8.5, I noticed a lot of Astro IIDC hangs, "beach balls" as you called them, and I had to force quit many times.  I'm not sure whether this is caused by 10.8.5, something else related to using a different computer, or the ongoing camera/FW800 bandwidth issue.

When this firewire bandwidth issue first came up, my initial thought was "bad hub".  So I've replaced the FW800 hub - same problems.  Daisy chaining...I can't do that, as there's only one FW port per camera.

I think I've now honed in on the problem being one of our Flea3 cameras, and I'm going to contact PGR to see about an evaluation on it.

Thanks!
