Hi Jim;
Very cool..
Glad to hear you got a working solution on the PST.
I would have thought that things would improve with time, but I guess quality and control always win out. Similar issues appears to be happening with the Skywatcher EQ8 / Orion HX 110 mounts (a mount I am interested in) - hit or miss how well they work.
Looking forward to what you capture, especially given our long summer days up north.

I'm still trying to reverse engineer how Alan Friedman makes his exquisite solar images.
Until then, I sold off all my earlier Ha solar gear and tried the Daystar Quark for the Mercury transit. Wasn't happy with it because the image field was very uneven, apparently a common quality control issue.
So I recently acquired a 12 year old (pre Meade) Coronado double stacked Maxscope 40 and am very happy to report it is a fine performing instrument. Here's today's first light with my PGR Grasshopper Express.

So no more PST sweet spots and laborious mosaic composite images to make. The disc data even captured prominence structures without having to expose them separately.
