Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] Camera compatibility with Astro IIDC?

Thanks as always, Milton - good to know.  This was suggested to me as a camera we might get, but my first thought was "I wonder if it's compatible with Astro IIDC?".  That settles it for me, as I have no plans to go down the Windows rabbit hole.  Let's hope PGR continues to develop their cameras to the IIDC protocol!

Hi Kevin;

No it isn't.

The only USB cameras that will work are from PGR. PGR implemented the IIDC protocol to control the cameras over USB 2. Everyone else uses a custom I/O protocol and follow no standards.

I don't believe any of the any of the PGR USB 3 cameras will work either. They require USB 3 protocols and for throughput USB 2 is not fast enough.

Lastly, as far as I know, no one is maintaining a list of what cameras are compatible anymore.

Does anyone know if this camera:

is compatible with Astro IIDC?

Also, is there a list somewhere that someone maintains, which is relatively up to date and includes which cameras are compatible with Astro IIDC?

Thanks all!  -Kevin
