Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] New GX camera

Hi Phil;

Those cameras did not exist when Astro IIDC was last tested, so it’s hard to say if it will work.

A few things to check, besides what Stephen suggested.

Are you using a FireWire 800 to FireWire 800 Cable?

Does your Mac have a real FW800 port or is it using those Thunderbolt to FW800 converters?

Are you using the last version of Astro IIDC? Those cameras are all FW 800 IIDC 1.3.2+ compliant and earlier versions of Astro IIDC may not support all the modes.

Check the Console log and see if there are any error messages being reported for it.

Lastly try using a smaller video size and / or a lower frame rate too.

HTH..

Have you used a different FireWire cord?  Also, make sure nothing else is using your FireWire bus before you plug it in.

IE, boot your computer with the GX plugged in.

From my iPhone (sorry if it's short)

Hi all,

I know it's been a while and I hope there is still some one here who can assist.

I just purchased a new Point Grey Grasshopper Express camera, firewire version to use with Astro IIDC. Plugged it in and was recognized in Astro IIDC with a lot more options than my old DMK 31 cam. Now here's the issue, I get about 1 second of live video before it freezes. If I change shutter speed or frame rate I get another second of video before freezing again. Seems like it loads and reads from a buffer then stops.

I've checked numerous settings but maybe I missed something. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Phil
