Well, it looks like Apple has finally done it.

I have a Macbook pro 2016 that I bought a couple years ago after my early 2011 macbook pro's graphics card finally bought it.  It had been crashing about 30 times while starting up, but if I left it on for months at a time it would run fine.  Then it started crashing when it was warmed up.  Now, it will run forever if I don't ever log in, lol!  But will start crashing immediately when I do.  I still have it, but haven't been able to use it.  I hear tell that a 2012 logic board will fit, but only used ones are available anymore, and for aroundd $500, last time I checked.

My 2004 Mac powerbook G4 still works fabulously, but it is slow.  It does have the niftiness of firewire 400 and 800 ports, though.

After I bought this computer, which I mostly use for processing UAV data, I purchased an otherworld computing doc with the firewire 800 port.  It seems to work fine for my external hard drives that are firewire 800, and of course it has USB and HDMI and other things.

But I just plugged my Pt Grey flea2 into it and Astro IIDC doesn't find the camera.  Same with the Allied Vision Pike with the color Kodak 1.2" chip in it.

But I've used Astro IIDC to process other video and image files from other sources on this computer, and that at least works fine.

Maybe after I finish this message, I'll restart the computer and see if that will "fix" it.  Then I'll go out to the shop and get the G4 laptop and double check that the cables I'm using are okay.
