Hi Tim and Alan;

Just to clarify.

My Color Bayer Codec is no longer supported by Apple, going forward. It’s QuickTime based and that’s going dead soon. There is no support for 3rd party plugins for System wide Audio / Video processing - except for Apple ones - 3rd party developers are completely shut out of this now..

However, I embedded the Bayer Decompression code inside of Astro IIDC so that it can still stack and align it - without the codec being available. I also did the same for 16 bit monochrome, RGB48 and ARGB64 too, as Apple will only support 10 or “maybe” 12 bit in the future.

I also wrote code to allow it to record the QuickTime movies directly to disk,without using any of Apples APIs. So it should still be able to record video too.

But eventually Apple will completely end QuickTime support and at that point, many of Astro IIDC features will be dead as we won’t be able to access the QuickTime Movie format via system API’s for some processing.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years.

I had two logic boards replaced by Apple (at no charge) but now with the third failure and few parts available, I decided it was time to put it to sleep. I removed the SSD hard drive I had added as an upgrade so that I can start up a newer machine as the 2011 MacBook Pro should I ever need to do that.

I did purchase one of the new Mac minis for the office and can confirm your experience that AstroIIDC continues to work fine for image processing under Mojave. I have not attempted to use it for camera control either but will give it a try at some point and update the group.

My early 2011 Macbook Pro is pretty much as fast as the newer mac, and has a FW800 port, but it's one of the infamous graphics chip failure mother boards. It takes about 30 tries to get it to stay on without crashing, and after a while it starts crashing when it's warm too.
