Have a look at the message below. our group was able to use this freeware to download the 30K messages and other content from

Buffalo Astronomical Assn. Yahoo group.

Hope it works!

Alan

I belong to a Color Theory (photoshop stuff) yahoogroup and one member posted this program link that can download all yahoo data (to a personal PC).

This maybe worth a try.  Free for 14 days.

---------------  From the website (just text below). Site has a table that may not send - go to website  -----------------

Yahoo Group Downloader Version 4 (14 day trial)
For Windows 7 / 8 / 10        For Yahoo Groups PG-Offline-4-0-897.zip
Please watch the short "How To" video on You Tube.                  [ VERY GOOD VIDEO so go to website.]

Note that PGO does not work with Two Factor Authentication.
If you have Two Factor Authentication switched on in Yahoo you will have to switch it off.

****** NOTE the last sentence!

An issue is EVERYONE is moving & saving stuff and more than a few Color Theory folks are having trouble saving individual files due to server load/overload from both the Color Theory & related groups.

Hi Stephen and others;

That’s very kind of you to offer. That sounds like a good solution to me and hopefully other people too. All I really want is that the knowledge base for Astro IIDC and imaging methods are preserved and accessible by people.

The only issue I have at this point is figuring out how we can extract the messages from Yahoo without manually pulling up each message and copy - pasting each into a text file, as there are currently 6546 messages since 2005.. I’ve found reference to a couple of 3rd party export tools, but have not explored them yet too see how well they work and what they create. Yahoo does not seem to have any facility to export the messages that I can find.

I’ll keep the list informed on what I find out and we’ll take it from there.

Have a great weekend..
