Subject: Still in market for firewire webcam

Well, I lost the bid on that iBot yesterday.  Had to go to the hardware store for a plumbing

part for the house when the final minutes arrove.  ;o)

So, I'm going to keep looking.  In case I can afford one, Milton, can you tell me which

firewire webcam can take exposures longer than 1 second with your software?  Can the

unibrain fire-i?  (there's one on ebay at the moment).

In other news, I received my Robofocus for my C9.25 yesterday, and it looks like it might

be clear tonight!  (but the seeing?...  who knows?).

Anybody see Tom Dobbins' review of the PADC from AVA in S&T?  I bought one of the

versions with the two 2° prisms just before the last Mars opposition, and it works

fabulously for imaging.  But Tom is right - it can be a pain to recenter the target on the

chip, due to the displacement of the prism.

For webcams that use CMYG filters on-chip, it would seem that a PADC would be a

necessity, since the red and blue channels are both derived in part from the magenta filter

and have the dispersion between them.

planetarily,

-Tim.
