Hi Fry;
Is this one of the new cameras your talking about then? How recently did you buy it?
That's different than I have bought in the past. I bought a Fire I in case 2 years ago and then bough two board level cameras last year. They all have the same M12x0.5m mount.
The weird part is that you can buy the case for $6.00 as an option too - so I don't really understand how this can happen. There is no difference between board or the other cameras, it's simply if it has a case or not.
I'll see if I can get this clarified.

Hi guys,
Just wanted to confirm that the packaged unibrain fire-i with case (as
opposed to the board camera version) does have a nonstandard lens
mount, NOT M12x0.5. I've had to fashion my own adapter as well, as
the Mogg UWAL-F does not fit.
