Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] Enhanced Big Saturn as Milton suggested
Thank you Milton and Alan.
I was so involved to get a decent huge Saturn image that i didn't consider the possibility of the moons.
Usually i like to search them but this time i completely forgot the Moon hunting.
Milton was right about the whiter patches.
It is impressive the precision of Starry Night Pro. I draw the two straight lines only to remark the perfect positions od the 2 Moons at the 01:05 AM Local time.
The 2 lines are prefectly vertical and parallels : no corrections needed.
Tonight i'm guiding on M51...
It is proceeding very well with the 909 clone box. It works fine.
I activated the 0,33x guiding speed (thanks to Autostartex patch) and i'm noticing that the RA is guiding perfectly while i'm afflicted by a wide sawtooth guiding on the DEC side.
I'm trying to understand why.
Meantime i exploit this e-mail ask 2 questions to Milton (wishlist)
This wishlist is not related to new functions but simply to help surviving with desktop cluttering and 2 cameras working (plus the incoming presbiopy).
1) preferences file.
since i use 2 instance of AstroIIDC (guiding-capturing) i'd like to know if the preference file is shared or if every istance use a different pref file. It would be nice to have two distinct pref files named with the same (re)-name of the duplicated AstroIIDC. (example AIIDC-cap /AIIDC-guid)
2) control window
is it possible to change the satin-metal appearance of that window? In the darkness it would be nice to darken everything. I put a black desktop background image but the satin-metal window are very bright.
That's all for now

Thanks for the heads up on this, I'd missed the first notice - excellent work, Alberto!

Hi Alberto;
Very nice Saturn. Even with my 2.5x TeleVue on my C8, my saturn image is about 1/4 that size. Must have been some phenomenally stable skies.
When was this taken at in UTC and date?
On the right hand side of Saturn's disk, about 2 ring thicknesses up, between the two bands there is a slightly whiter patch that is right on the edge of Saturn. Do you think it's moon? Also, if you use a 0.4 Luma curve on that image, there are two more "blotches" (moons?) visible near the edge of the ring on the right hand side.
PS: Glad to see your out of the hospital..
