Hi Mark,
The instructions for the Baader material explains that the film should not be under tension - loose is fine. What is most important is that the filter fits on the telescope securely so that it cannot slip, fall or blow off when in use.

Hi,
My Baader solar film arrived today after a hiccup where the first
parcel was lost. This replacement one was already opened (probably to
check for dangerous goods?) so I`m wondering if the first parcel was
deemed as dangerous!? Here`s a couple of photos of the mask on the
cake spring form. The aperture of the hole in the cardboard sheets is
a little over 6 inches (about 150 cms or so), the spring form is 280
cm & the scope is a C9.25... My only question at this stage is how
flat must the film be held?...Ray, I`ll try your off axis suggestion
when I have more cardboard..
Mark.!
