Milton, 

I started doing a PTC (photon transfer curve) for the Nikon with Richard Crisp recently but I think Richard may have taken insult from Mike at ImagesPlus (who said there was little appreciable visual difference with Richard`s 15 flats at 80% full well prescription) & promptly removed his input from that group. 

Whilst I can probably contact Richard privately I`m a bit reluctant  to & have had quite a fill of daytime tests for now...!

I may try your idea eventually though..

M 42 may be a while because my new site dosen`t have as clear a view of the east as before..

Plenty of other things I can try..
